De-noob for Nowt: Golden Autumn

It’s been a while since I wrote a De-noob for Nowt post, and I’ve noticed that I seem to be moving away from ‘nowtiness’ and into ‘moneyness’ on the blog. Since this blog is called SL for Nowt, it seems rather silly of me to post almost exclusively about offers that you need some money for, be they the ‘up to L$75’ items, or the ‘L$50 pay-to-join group’ items. I need to start re-injecting the blog with nowtiness again!

To that end, I’m reviving this series of posts. The De-noob for Nowt posts contain entire avatar looks for free. Not a single Linden buck required to be spent. To that end, I have created a new alt (say hi to Ruth!) and she has absolutely NO money (poor lass!) I won’t be transferring even so much as L$1 to her, in order to buy a dollarbie. She’s skint and she’ll stay that way, so that I can bring you some entirely-freebie looks :)

Holy cow, I haven’t blogged a Dressing Room collection for ages! The new one is a good’un, though, so here are a couple of items from it, together with one item from the latest mesh clothing hunt at R.icielli :)

The Statement in Pink mesh skirt is from MichaMi at The Dressing Room. Mar has teamed it with just one item – the Blake Jacket in black – from R.icielli’s new Halloween Mesh Hunt, at their mainstore’s mesh department. There are 20 items hidden in the store (they’re very easy to find; just look for the big pumpkins!). Each item costs L$15 to buy, so even if you grab the lot you’ll only be spending roughly what you might pay for any full-price mesh item at any top store :)

Mar’s skin is the oh-so-pretty Sofia Fresh skin from YS&YS at The Dressing Room, and her earrings are a free group gift from Bliensen + Maitai at the Violet Mafia location. *blinks at the title* No, I think that looks rather, er, kinky, actually. Never mind. I meant well! :p

LADIES! Amacci has put out a fabulous four-colour pack of up-do hair especially for us, for Halloween! (I guess, even though it’s a month away, we’re now in October, so it’s time for orange and black to start sprouting up all over the grid.)

The Nami hair comes in four colour variants, all of which I’ve shown here: burnt orange & black, night & orange, night & pumpkin, pumpkin & black.

Head to the Truth store (be warned: it’s always busy and can be very laggy – you’ll need lots of patience! It helps to be flying before you teleport, and try to fly in the store rather than walk; you get places that little bit quicker!). If you’re not already in the Subscribe-O-Matic, find one in the main entrance area and click it, then click again and look in the history for the notice sent out on Friday, called TRUTH HAIR New Release & Group Gift 21 September. Inside it you’ll find ten (yes, TEN!) full colour packs of this lovely unrigged mesh hair.

I’ve got some scrummy stuff for you today!

First up, there’s a new group gift skin at Al Vulo! The group is free-to-join (paste this link into chat and click it to bring up the group join window) so wear your group tag and head to the Al Vulo! store, then click the ad board inside the little shed outside.

Next, Mar is wearing part of the Finding FabFree hunt gift – a mesh top and mesh pants – from PurpleMoon Creations. You’re looking for a sculpted white number 5. At PurpleMoon, find the small poster advertising the hunt, and look for the footprints on the floor. They’ll lead you in the right direction! Full prize piccy is after the cut.

Finally, there are two gorgeous group gifties from PurpleMoon Creations. The group is L$50 to join (paste this link into chat and click it) so wear your group tag and head inside the store to the lobby area. You’ll find the lovely golden Elwing Gown on a big board there, which celebrates 17,000 members (wow!), and if you check the group’s notices you’ll also find the bonus earrings!

Normally I don’t blog about anything that costs more than L$75, but there have been rare exceptions in the past. Whenever I’ve done this, I try to label the post accordingly, thus this post is called ‘under a hundred’. Since this is a great offer for the guys out there (and offers like that tend to be few and far between!) it deserved to be blogged, despite coming in at a little over the price remit for SL for Nowt.

The item in question is a limited-time offer on Marketplace from R.icielli – of a full male avatar. The Brian avatar comprises: a modifiable shape, two hairbased skins (one midtone, one tanned – both shown in the first pic on this post), brown eyes, eyebrows, a pair of black boots, a fedora hat, plus two full mesh outfits: one pair of black jeans and one pair of blue jeans (four sizes of each) and one black blazer with white t-shirt and one brown leather jacket with black t-shirt (again, four sizes of each).

Hi, peeps!

Ugh, it feels like it’s been raining for weeks here. When I logged into SL this morning, I wanted to find something summery and bright to cheer myself up, and find it I did!

Not only have the Baby Monkey shoe lucky boards been replenished with new items, but there’s also a new set of lucky boards upstairs, filled with mesh content. Mar won a great pair of faded black jeans and a fab one-shouldered summery top, and together with the July freebie sandals from SF Design, and a limited edition (this weekend only) gift from IKON and cheapie makeup from e.e.Linter, she’s all lime-d out!

Ricielli-gance!

Ricielli-gance!

Ricielli is one of the best places for finding cheap mesh content, when they have their frequent store hunts! The current hunt is called the Valentines Brazilian Hunt. If you head to the Ricielli store you’ll find 19 pink heart balloons in the mesh department and one pink heart balloon in the skins department. Each balloon costs L$15 to buy, and most contain mesh clothing or accessories. There are large pictures all around the sim, showing you all the hunt prizes, so you can note down the numbers of the things you really want and go looking for those balloons, or you can click here to see the image. They’re really easy to find!

Here, Mar has put together an elegant look from six of the hunt items (please note: the hairpiece is just a side ponytail; Mar had to find a hairbase to go with it!). The hairpiece, dress, boots, and bag are all mesh items. The hairpiece comes in multiple colours, and the makeup is a multiple pack with lots of different palettes.

Heck, if you don’t remember watching Romper Room as a tiny thing, then your childhood was incomplete! The excitement of the host seeing you in her Magic Mirror was brilliant! And here’s something else that’s brilliant: the cute little baby blue polkadot mesh romper that G.Field sent out as a subscribe-o-matic gift!
